Our Minister

The Rev. Rodney E.  Gordon, M. Div.

A native of the Northern Neck of Virginia, Fr. Gordon grew up in Warsaw, a 1975 graduate of Rappahannock High School. He and his wife Jennifer are happy to be back home in the Northern Neck.

Fr. Gordon is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, Chicago, and the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs, Virginia Commonwealth University.

After serving as supply priest in January and February 2015, Fr. Rod Gordon is the newly appointed Priest-in-Charge at St. Peter’s.  For the past 23 years, Fr. Gordon has served as a priest in both the Diocese of Virginia and the Diocese of Southern Virginia and has also served parishes in the Diocese of Chicago and as a Hospital Chaplain in Chicago.  For most of his ordained ministry, he has served as a bi-vocational priest serving both the Church as well as being employed in secular employment as an extension of his vocational ministry in the community.

In April 2013, Fr. Gordon was appointed Director of Social Services for Essex County, Virginia. Prior to joining Essex County Social Services, he served the County of Henrico for 22 years in the Department of Finance and the Henrico Department of Social Services. While at Social services, Fr. Gordon served as a member of the Executive team and as Executive Director of Interfaith Services of Henrico (now HEARTH), a non-profit organization benefiting citizens of Henrico County.

In his spare time, Fr. Gordon and Jenny enjoy the company of their four dogs Moose, Sammy, Molly and Scooter, and of course the Rappahannock River at their home in Essex County.
